Hero-Gear started the Battle Mug project over 2 years ago as members of the staff sat around and contemplated what they should do with a slug of M4 carry handles they had laying around from a recent Police dept. upgrade to BUIS on their patrol rifles.
Long viewed as either hardcore gun guys that like to drink or hardcore beer guys that like to shoot it only seemed natural that they figure out a way of combining two great passions into one ass-kicking device.
Thus Battle Mug was born!
As the project matured, a few things were certain:
1. 100% MADE IN THE USA! Yeah, we get pissed when we see fan-boys buying stuff made in China
2. No compromise in the production method or materials. Yeah, we know there are ways to make it offshore by 9 year old kids or some cheaper producing method like casting, but that just didnÆt seem right.
As the two principal owners of Hero-Gear (Joe has 22 years in the Army as a ground pounder, and Rod has 24 years in the Army doing cool kid stuff with units like the 160th and CAG) pondered the question: What is Battle Mug? They thought back to the Old Army days when a unit coin actually meant something.
Remember that? Do you remember the first time when your Commander placed a coveted coin in your hands? Usually they had your name engraved, but they always had a serial number, and they were not something that just got handed out to every Private in the platoon for showing up to work on time 3 out of 5 days that week.
So what if Battle Mug became to represent more than just a kick-ass beer mug?
What if we put a serial number on it? What if your mug was something that represented a special event (Hail and Farewell at the unit) , assignment, or deployment? At this point, we felt we were on to something.
Did we care if every E1 mouth breather owned a Battle Mug? no.
Would we rather keep things exclusive and sell 300 instead of 3000? yes!
To date, Battle Mug has done exactly what we set out to do: Provide something unique and cool, but certainly not for everyone!
We are proud to have owners from:

Battle Mug starts as a 13.5 pound solid block of 6061 T6 billet aluminum before it enters a state of the art CNC facility in Huntsville, Alabama. This facility produces specialized parts and equipment for the U.S. Department of Defense, major weapons manufacturers, NASA, and a host of other companies working at the U.S. Rocket and Space Center.
Built to military specifications, Battle Mug features a M1913 rail interface system which allows the operator to mount a standard issue M4 carry handle, tactical light, laser device, holographic sight (we call them ôbeer gogglesö) or even a bayonet for close quarters, high risk operations.
Each individually serialized Battle Mug features Mil-Spec Type III anodizing and a crenelated base and is built with the operator in mind.
Whether you are fighting drug lords deep inside the jungles of Colombia, stomping out Al Qaida terrorists in Falluja Iraq, Fighting off the undead as Zombies try to eat your brain, or eradicating no-good hippies in Berkeley, Californiaà
Battle Mug is built to take the abuse and will be there to offer you a frosty 24oz. reward once the mission is complete.
